Hailing from country NSW, Odette made the move to sunny QLD in 2018 to join the team here at Wine & Dine’m Catering. Odette has worked with countless brides and grooms to make their wedding dreams come true, in addition to her impressive portfolio of corporate clients. Recently Odette’s role has expanded to managing all event enquiries for our Fortitude Valley venue, Baedeker. We sat down with Odette to find out more about her role and her valuable insights into organising events.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK WITH WINE & DINE’M CATERING?

I was preparing to move from Sydney to Brisbane at the end of 2018 to live with my partner. My dream role was to work with a high-quality, standout caterer in the sales department – a role that I thought would be difficult to come by. Fortunately, a position became available at Wine & Dine’m Catering and it was exactly what I was looking for.

What is the best part about your role?

For me the best part about my role is the relationships I develop with my clients and seeing their original ideas come to fruition. As the Events Manager for Baedeker, I get excited every time I get to show a new client through the venue. I’m still trying to work out if The Cellar or The Garden is my favourite space, but The Bar always grabs me!

What was the most fulfilling event that you have worked on?

The successful execution of any event is always a fulfilling moment but my stand-out event to date was Laura and Tom’s wedding at Running Creek. The wedding was set on a private farm that had been built by the Groom and his father, with the help of family and friends. There was a lot of love, care and time put in not only by our team but by the couple. To see their hard work come together was amazing and their smiles made it so worthwhile.

Who are your personally recommended suppliers that you love to collaborate with?

Hire Republic are my go-to event equipment hire company.  Kelly and the team are always so helpful and go above and beyond to ensure we have the equipment we need, delivered on time ready to go.

What advice would you offer anyone planning an event?

Don’t be afraid to ask any question, no matter how small or silly it may seem. Use us and our knowledge to get the most out of your event. We are no cookie cutter company – we love to look outside the box for solutions!

I would also recommend having a budget and being honest with your Event Manager about your budget. This way we can make changes to meet your requirements.

And finally, use all the resources on offer. Our Baedeker Bar Manager Mark is a sommelier with a wealth of knowledge and is available to arrange a beverage tasting to ensure the wines and cocktails for your event are perfectly suited to your tastes.

What is your favourite Wine & Dine’m dish?

Our Pastry Chef Alex is incredible, and she often brings us delicious brownies.
